John DerekBAGLEYJohn Bagley grew up in West Bridgford, living on Musters Road and attending the Grosvenor Primary School on Melton Road, later boarding at Tonbridge School in Kent before attending university to qualify as a chartered surveyor. Returning to Nottingham, he subsequently joined his father's surveying and estate agency practice in the late 1950's and became the senior partner of the firm in the 1960's following his father's retirement. Classical music was John's enduring passion and his historical knowledge of this subject was limitless. His collection of old recordings was enormous. He was deeply associated with the former Nottingham Music Society, and specialised in the booking of recitals by renowned performers, both from the UK and abroad. John retired at 60, and invested much of his retirement pursuing his love of classical music and opera. In 2020 John had a fall at home and never fully recovered, despite this set back he maintained all of his spirit, intellect, wit and love for music. He enjoyed the company of his carers during this time and made some very good friends. John passed away peacefully at home on the 15th of May 2023; listening to the music he had appreciated so much throughout his life, but his legacy will live on in continued support of the musical Arts in the form of the The John Bagley Music Trust. John Bagley's funeral will take place at the Southern Cemetery at 10:30 on Monday the 10th of July. Rutland House 128 Melton Road West Bridgford Nottingham NG2 6EP 0115 969 6006 www.lymn.co.uk

John was a wonderful man, and was the epitome of and English gentleman. He was truly caring to those lucky enough to be part of his circle. He would always make sure we were ok, despite us being there to support him. He made me laugh on days I wasn't sure I was in a laughing mood and gave me fantastic advise and pep talks on defeating the big C. Thank you John for being you and it was a pleasure supporting and knowing you for the time I did. RIP John.

John it was an absolute privilege to have spent so much time with you. I will never forget the enjoyment of the cultural experiences we had together, or the many times you had me laughing at your funny stories of your experiences in life. You will be truly missed.

We all enjoyed spending time and caring for John over the past 3 years whether it be us just sitting chatting, laughing or watching films with him, oh and not forgetting “eggheads” which John thoroughly enjoyed on an evening. You are deeply missed by myself (sue) and the rest of your care team from Right At Home Nottingham South. RIP John xxx
